Cambodia School Project

Cambodia School Project

Veritas Digital Services Ltd, in partnership with KHEN (Khmer NGO for Education), is funding the reconstruction of Chamkar Srov Primary School in Cambodia.

KHEN is a local NGO, based in Battambang Province in Cambodia.  It promotes child rights and protection for vulnerable children through access to quality and comprehensive education.

Cambodia is a developing country with great inequality, poverty and health concerns, where children in rural areas are particularly disadvantaged.

Chamkar Srov Primary School was established in April 2009, in the village of Prey Thom in Battambang Province.  There are currently 52 students, half of whom are girls.  The new school is to replace the existing rudimentary building, which is now in a dilapidated state.  The project will include:

  • Construction of a new, more substantial school building with sufficient space for all students
  • Provision of toilets for students, with separate facilities for boys and girls (currently there are no toilet facilities)
  • Development of a clean, safe water supply at the school (students currently use an unsafe pond at some distance from the school)
  • Construction of a perimeter fence, with gate and signage
  • Provision of rubbish bins and an incinerator
  • Development of the playground, with areas for both outdoor study and recreation and planting of trees for shade

The picture above shows the existing dilapidated building. We will provide further updates as the project progresses..
